The wrong person was the spy (spoilers)

It should have been Pitt. To quote Rotten Tomatoes:

"The crux of Act Three would then be Max's moral dilemma of whether he turns himself or whether he frames his wife and in doing so erases evidence against himself. It would be a far more challenging and ethically murky scenario than a rather rote finale where the characters follow their predestined paths."

I wish THAT had been the second act of "Allied".

What a stupid idea. Why would he "turn himself"? Where's the suspense in that?

No, I thought the dilemma was more compelling the way they did it. I get tired of all these smartass "critics" who second-guess movies, as if they want us to believe they could have done it better.

If they could have, they should have -- but INSTEAD they just sit on their fat asses throwing spitballs at someone else's hard work and creativity, at no effort or risk to themselves. How is that making an honest living?

my, someone's cranky!

Nah he's just a lil mad. And he raised some really good points.

The measure of a film's quality isn't how "challenging and ethically murky" it is. Fortunately, this movie's writer and director realized that.

I like that idea--I enjoyed the movie overall, but I would have enjoyed a twist as well. Not every movie needs a big twist/reveal, but spy movies are very well suited for that kind of thing.
