Mike's explanation about the mutliversal overlap showed that it was a different Mike, Jodi, and Reggie in the first movie than when Mike wakes up at the end, and a different Mike and Reggie at the beginning of 2.

It seemed kind of like what was happening to Reggie was the same thing that happened to Mike at the end of 1 and the beginning of 2, having his mind shifted into his alternate selves in parallel universes where circumstances are different and Reggie doesn't believe him.
