The Phantasm films seem more like episodes than films.

Films are typically self-encapsulating, with an ending. But, Ravager, like most Phantasm films, doesn't have an ending. They're embarking on a trip to continue their mission at the end. That's fine, but for what they called the "final" film? They should've had an ending. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see them continue with the new story direction and characters. But, why advertise it as a final film when doing this? The only equivalent I can think of is if Back To The Future 2 was called the "final" film in the series. It's blatantly leading to a continuation that will supposedly never happen. Not to mention, there will be no Angus Scrimm. Perhaps they could use a facial appliance on another actor... again like Back To The Future 2.

Absolutely correct. Open ended is fine for when a sequel will be made but this was the final film. From what I've read poking around the net (and it all could be bullsh!t) once this film was done Don sold the rights to the franchise and the reboots will start one day. There will never be a sequel to this movie and there will never be any closure to the series.

IF this is truly the last one then I take it as they just continue to fight where its cold and thats it. Looks like they are saying they cant win the war but they keep fighting.

Back to the Future was the "final" film. There was no intention of doing a sequel at the time and it had an open ending, I'd say more open than Ravager.

I found the conclusion satifying. As The Tall Man said at one point of the series... It's never over. Do you honestly think that you would get another kind of ending? Because I didn't.
