How can this even end?
The Tall Man is shown to be very hard to kill and even if you do, another walks through the portal. So how does this franchise effectively(and believably) kill the Tall Man?

shareWhatever answers clearly lie in the red world. I imagine the real Tall Man has no body of his own, and merely creates clones of Jedediah Morningside from cadavers he collects.
shareWhy does he have to die to have an ending?
shareI don't see how the Tall Man can be defeated, unless there's a "source" he comes from that's destroyed.
shareit all depends on what we learn about him but the tall man has been beat in each movie he just keeps sending clones to replace him so that either means there is one being who is the real tall man an he keeps sending in these versions kinda like a hive mind an if you kill the leader you kill them all or they go into the red world an simply blow all the tall men up the end
shareSounds like a game of Gauntlet... kill the monster generator and all the demons or ghosts you're killing can no longer be cloned/made...

I remember reading a treatment in which a theoretical physicist that formulates a way to collapse the dimensional gateways that allow the Tall man to generate infinite copies of himself. This allows Reggie to destroy him once and for all.
FACT!
there has to be some source of the tall mans copies or something that connects his dimension gate way
shareIt's all a dream, remember.

No, that was just the ending of the first movie, which then reveals that not ALL of it was a dream when the Tall Man actually appears, leaving it up to the audience to decide how much was a dream and how much was real.
Anyway, I remember, several years ago, I read the Phantasm 5 screenplay (don't know how much it's been revised since then for this movie), and in it Reggie finds the original Tall Man's head, which is controlling all the others by a bunch of tentacles coming out of his face and head, hooked up to machines. He and a soldier he met in the Red Zone think they manage to kill it, and as they flee the Red Zone, the soldier gets his head blown off by a flying sphere or something (I don't remember). Reggie returns to his time/world, and it seems it's over. But then he enters a room, and there's an entire army of Tall Men. He turns around, and finds the headless soldier's body with the original Tall Man's head attached to it. All the Tall Men say "We've been waiting for you". The end.
So, yeah, that's what happened in the original script I read back when it was called Phantasm's End. This was several years ago (like 10 or 12), so I don't know how much revision or how many changes have been made since then for Ravager. I'm kind of hoping for a more conclusive ending. I know the whole point of the Phantasm movies is to keep you guessing, wonder, and not knowing what or how much is real, but damn it, I want answers.
That ending kind of sucks, I really hope this film gives fans an actual conclusion. No more cliffhangers.
shareYes, I want the story to come full circle with actualy answers and a feel of closure. YET, I want it to end on an ambigious level. Kind of like you still wonder what of it was a dream and what was reality.
shareWhich also leads us to wonder... how much MORE footage we've NOT seen from Phantasm 1979 can they interject in V? I just have this feeling the movie is going to start as if it's 1979 all over again with everything 'hunky dory'... and I don't exactly mean recaps... I think we've had enough recaps... especially considering exactly how IV ended...

I think if Mike died, the Tall Man would die. There's some weird symbiosis going on between them now, and if Mike realised that and thought it would save the world, he might take his own life. Probably be too much of a downer for the series to end on though.
With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world

There's no closure at all with this film. Ends like every other sequel.
shareVery confusing film but what i gather is that the Tall Man exists in thousands of realities so thats why in one Reggie dies in hospital , another the earth is destroyed.
Very unsatisyfing ending and awful final music.
How come they fling this 'c'rap music into a movie and think it makes it edgy?
Sorry but this final effort was just a money maker although it did have the humour and of course homage to the old movie but it was just an excuse to rip the fans off!
In the original film the dead were brought back to l;ife but compressed in size so they could withstand the heavy gravity of the "Red Plant" = Hell? Yet in this they all can withstand the gravity.
Its uncle Frank Kirsty!
Its time to play!
