The only thing I'm disappointed about...

While I know this isn't exactly "Phtantasm's End" that they were talking about making in the late 90s early 2000's, this is pretty close. And those early talks also had Bruce Campbell attached as playing a character.

What we got in the trailers looks a little similar to that idea (Reggie hunting for Mike in the plague zones) so I'm disappointed Bruce Campbell was no longer a part of this. But I suppose because of it's background and how it came to be, I guess that was never an option... or maybe he was just too busy.

So I hear Dads dead, hey is that eggnog?

They had a tight budget

Great points all. I also figured it had to do with the fact that they probably moved away from that script anyways. Wasn't that one done by Roger Avery anyways? I doubt they'd want to pay him for using any of his ideas, considering this thing started out as a web series anyways.

And Campbell's too fat these days to fit into anything tight. ;)

In any case Don and Bruce didn't have the greatest working collaborations and they cut ties during the scripting of Bubba Nosferatu.
Bruce is a fine 'genre actor' but pretty egocentrical.

Screw the egonog, Give Pat64 the friggin cigar.

Gigi, Great work on Reg's makeup. Glad to see you in the credits!

Gigi,

Please tell Reg, it's by far his greatest performance. I've seen almost all his films.

I actually was lucky enough to speak to you both back in 2006 and wrote an article about Reg. You were both super nice! I used to frequent the Phantasm's End website forums where many fans congregated. I do recall one of the first scripts had Reg working with a monkey or something like that. The article outlined Reg's theory about Phantasm and was spot on as to his description of what was going to be Ravager. I want to thank you both.

The hospital scene brought tears at the end (if that means anything) - this hit very close to home for me. They did a great job, the make up was first rate!!! The phans are like family and this scene really puts it all into retrospect.

I am glad it V finally got released after all these years. Now it won't say Phantasm V in Pre-Production on IMDB for another 20 years.

One last question, this is a spoiler so I will blank it out, why on earth at the last car segment before the hospital segment Reggie was with Mike and Jody in the Cuda, why didn't anyone think of using Reg's famous line "We're hot as love" as the last thing he says. I though the scene was screaming for it.

Thanks....

Bruce Campbell would have been awesome in this! This was my 1st time seeing a Phantasm movie, but something about it reminded me of the Army of Darkness series.

Bruce's involvement would have taken away from the core characters.

My disappointed with ravager it is because two things:

I-Rocky didn't do anything. I was expecting her fighting :/

II-Again, they don't say even a line about Tim, from PIII. Maybe I'm the only one but I like that character and would like so much to see him again or at least have a respectable quote. For example, Reggie trying to shoot the spheres at same time driving, I would be happy if he say something like "Damm, I miss you Tim..." (referencing yours skills with gunshots).

At first time I was disappointed with several things, but after reconsider some aspects, including about all the franchise, only these left.

Oh, and of course, I think that if all about Reggie in nursing home was cutted off, I guess the movie would be better.

SPOILER

I think that the hospital scene was probably the best way to end it. Reggie was dying and he was confusing reality with delusion. He was slipping between these places. The pylons represented folds in his brain where he could leave and enter different places of time and dimension. Things began to overlap. There could possibly have been 3 different endings if you think about it. 1) Mike, Jody and Reg ride off north to take the tall man with them 2) Reg succumbs to dementia 3) Reggie lives to fight another day with Chunk and Rocky though this scene alludes to the idea that it is NEVER OVER!

I think it was rather cerebral to be honest and they did a great job with the script. Reg's last scene before the credits was touching. A lot of people wanted answers from all the films, there weren't any answers. This is the mark of a good filmmaker/storyteller.

It was always meant to make you think about what was happening and what wasn't. It was all in their heads. I didn't care about the soundtrack as much as I cared about the plot/script.

I agree that Rocky should have showed up sooner in the film. I wouldn't doubt that some fans may not ever get to see that scene because it is buried a few minutes into the credits.

Well said and I feel the same.
