😒 Went in not really knowing what to expect and it was just kind of meh thoughout the whole thing. Even the musical numbers were like whateva. Maybe it just wasn't my taste idk. I liked the dancing at the end.

Just a hunch but Streep had to learn to play the guitar for the movie. Therefore most of the songs are from the easier section of of the classic rock playbook.

I agree. By the end of the movie I wish I could go back and count the minutes spent on the music. And it was just weird because unlike other non-musical movies (is this considered a musical? idek), they would film the ENTIRE song. Most movies just do a bit of the song, maybe verse and chorus, and then move on. This one made you sit through the WHOLE THING. And sometimes 2 or 3 songs consecutively.
It really was just like going to an actual bar and having to listen to some cover band, where you're KIND of having a good time, but also KIND of wishing they would just finish up already.
Of course the music wasn't very good. They took excellent originals and produced weak covers. They should have chosen mediocre originals and improved upon them.

She was a hobby singer in a sad sack LA bar band, doing standard rock cover songs. If they had a real pro as the singer people would complain xx was too good to be a bar band singer. Other than Cher who else is out there for this kind of role.
