First of all, I haven't read the book. I'd just like to put that out of the way. This idea came solely from having watched the movie. Anyway...

I thought Quentin and Lacey had much more chemistry than Ben and her. That scene in the bath tub had me hoping the movie would go a whole different direction than it did. But alas, I was disappointed. I just wanted to know if anyone else thought the same way?

QUENTIN clearly didn't like LACEY. Besides, he was so caught up on MARGO that he wasn't thinking of other girls. He didn't even want to go to that party because of her.

That scene in the bath tub had me hoping the movie would go a whole different direction than it did. But alas, I was disappointed.

The scene was written that way to tease the audience into thinking that. In reality, when a girl asks a guy to get close to her just to talk about her deep problems, it's because she sees him as a friend only.
