What music to use for the film?

I think Badly Drawn Boy (Damon Gough) would be the perfect choice for composer. His work on films such as About A Boy, The Fattest Man in Britain, and Being Flynn showcase his talent for music and lyrics. He has a sensitivity and style that would completely match James and Bob's story - in fact whenever I read the book, I can BDB's music in my head.

Lots of his music can be found on YouTube, but two of my favourite examples are

Is There Nothing We Could Do from The Fattest Man in Britain

There are 3 perfect songs which come to mind immediately when thinking of James n Bob

Songs people from all walks of life can connect with and really feel the pain and struggle of Bob n James.

Elton John "DONT LET THE SUN GO DOWN ON ME"

Bill Withers "LEAN ON ME"

The Hollies "HE AINT HEAVY,HES MY BROTHER"

Interesting, I was thinking the same thing.

There is one song that, although very pop/mainstream, kind of suits James (lyrically). And that is 'Alive' by Sia. It's a very big song and possibly wouldn't work but the lyrics are quite matching to the story. "I found solace in the strangest place" and "I had a one way ticket to a place where all the demons go/

amongst other lines.

Coldplay's "Fix You". Ideal :-) I love Bob - and I'm not even a 'cat person'!
