I just realized this movie was set in 1962. For some reason I'd always assumed it was "now."

shareWell here is my take. The day Helen and Bob got married...the cars looked like the 1954 era.
The body of the story takes place 15 years after they are banned from being supers (not necessarily fifteen years after the marriage). At the 'present' time, their comic universe has a permanent 1962 feel to it, despite the actual year.
When Edna is talking about the dangers of capes, she mentioned the demise of Thunderhead and Stratagirl with the dates April 1957 and November 1958. So I figure the ban had to have taken effect after 1958 at least. Add 15 years. That's why I figure early 70s.
They show a newspaper in The Incredibles that shows the year as 1962 (see link above), and The Incredibles 2 is the same time. But they keep the time aspect rather subtle.
shareIt's one of those deals where you have to pick your plot hole. I choose to ignore the one I'd have to pause and use a magnifying glass :/
