I liked Cars 2
I thought it was very entertaining. I went into it saying it would be dumb, and it turns out that it was. But it was colorful and beautiful, very vibrant. It fails to do what Pixar tends to do with their "magic" that even the first Cars film encapsulated, but that didn't make it any less enjoyable to watch.
That being said, if people say it sucked, I can't disagree with what you said. It wasn't great. I just find it to be a guilty pleasure, and that's surprising. I hate Mater. I hate the eyes. I hate the concept. But it worked just enough. I was willing to let James Bond: Spectre to have a chance to be campy in this sense, but that one failed to become a guilty pleasure and instead was just very mundane. This one worked in that way... before the serious one (Cars 3, in this case) comes out.
