Four months later since this last post got made.
Even with Cars 3 receiving better critical responses than Cars 2, keep in mind that the two Despicable Me movies overall have been better than the two Cars movies. Had this sequel been a product of one of Pixar's stronger movies, your claim can be argue otherwise. But this year seems to be a weak line up for animated movies, tbh. Save for about 5-6 movies, including a promising few that has yet to be release. Lego Batman has been good, I hear Captain Underpants did really well too (and I know you aren't a huge fan of Dreamworks either to even wanna hear that kind of statement :p), Coco already shows more promise than Cars 3 from its trailers (we'll see if it can live up to the hype too), and Despicable Me 3 will likely do fine.
I just listed four movies so far that could get compare better than Cars 3. But again, Cars 3 is up against a very underwhelming line up for animated movies. I mean, one of those movies in the line up includes things like.... The Emoji Movie. Let's just say that the Academy have picked the wrong year to wanna revise their animated film category.
