why does disney channel away have to have a nerdy and uncool character

Not always, just very common. Its a common stereotype of the teen genre, and has been since... well since there was a teen genre to be honest.

for one: nerdy and uncool characters are supposed to make the show funnier. And also be the base of jokes.

Another reason is that if a character is ALREADY popular, then it's too easy for the character which would make his or her adventures be very boring to watch.

And, it is at least possible that they want to show that teens who are nerdy and uncool can paradoxically be cool in a way and definitely worthy persons. IN KC undercover the brother may be nerdy and uncool but he does take part in spy missions and provide real assistance to his professional spy parents and cool teenage sister, which makes him sort of cool too.

In addition to disney channel always having a nerdy and uncool character, they ALSO have these sub main characters: a dumb character, a fashionista character, a black character, a white character, and an annoying character.
