The incessant low hum, I must admit, is devilishly intoxicating.

I found that monotonous drone to be extremely annoying. It was one of the MANY things I didn't like about this adaptation.

There were similar deep sounds used for atmosphere in Shutter Island.

I absolutely loved it. Really helped create an uneasy feeling of dread.
