I absolutely loved this series and I think it deserves 8.5-8.7 at least. Absolutely brilliant built-up to the end, very minimalist design of whole setup, wonderful acting, great music and stunning visuals.
The end sequence (Judge with the gun) will remain one of my favourites. Amazingly designed and directed.
What do you think? How much will you rate the series?
If they could give a more detailed explaination about how each murder is committed with flashbacks during the final scene, then I think it would be rated higher.
I don't know how "real" those ratings are. I've heard that trolls with multiple accounts can issue multiple votes and artificially raise the numbers up or down. Plus some voters have no notion of nuance -- they'll vote 10 for "I like it" and 1 for "I didn't".
I'd give it maybe 8.0. My main complaint was that the beginning was rather slow in setting up the sinister situation -- it couldn't duplicate the book's clever opening in which "Mr. Owen" is giving a different description of the party to each character and it is obvious that he is up to something.
Also, while it was probably realistic to have the guests yell during the "accusation" recording, it drowned out some useful information. I would have preferred that it showed each guest freeze up, showing each one's face as he/she is accused, THEN they start arguing.
Negatives: The music was so constant that it became obnoxious. The editing was too melodramatic. Could've been feature length without those unnecessary slow motion scenes.
Positives: The performances. The source material.
Overall decent but 8.2 is too high for me (though my love for the book may have caused bias on my part)
