Toby Stephens deserves some sort of special award for this film

As an amateur actor, I've read the play script of "10 Little Indians" many times. Lombard remains my favorite role. However, in this adaptation, this is the first time I've ever seen a version of Armstrong that I think would be an absolute hoot to play, and in some ways, would be more fun to play than Lombard.

Everything about Stephens I liked. From his open hysteria, to his biting sarcasm (Oh you were DRIVING. What a SURPRISE) He was absolutely a delight to watch from start to finish. Everyone was perfect in their roles, but Stephens really stole a lot of the scenes he was in. When you're acting opposite the legendary Charles Dance, that's something. About the equivalent of the scenes Herbert Lom managed to steal opposite Peter Sellers in the "Pink Panther" series.

It's in his DNA.

He's definitely my favorite portrayal of Armstrong. Light years ahead of poor Walter Huston in Rene Clair's version. Walter was a great actor, but he served up a lot of ham when he played the role.

Ageed. He's a great actor. The character was as annoying as hell but Toby always does a stellar job in his portrayals.

The annoying factor was what made him so fun. His snide comments were hilarious. He made a big deal of telling Vera Claythorne not to give in to hysteria, and yet he was the most hysterical of them all.
