They did not want to make the loss too great for the audience muhahahaha!
No seriously, the kid had great hair and was ok as an actor. The point was to replay the game opening. And race is not important so they chose a black kid because then black people feel more connected to the story.
It's a FINANCIAL decision.

I think this would have the opposite effect with black men.

They chose a white man to impregnated one of their women to gain black viewers? That makes no sense.

Here in the UK she would she would be called mixed race
It's an insult to her white father to call her black
