Only republicans would create or watch such a wicked series ! Leave Wizard of Oz alone ! It is the greatest and most beloved film ever made !

The movie made some pretty major changes to the source material. I can't argue that. But it's still a beautifully filmed, entertaining work, and I would hate to lose Judy Garland's rendition of Somewhere Over the Rainbow. It's a good film in its own right.

And I liked the storyline of the girl learning the true value of her boring old home. Dorothy has ZERO character development in the book. In fact, she has ZERO character development in fourteen books and a small collection of very short stories. Baum's stories were whimsical and appealing, but they had little of human nature in them.

Are you unaware that The Wizard of Oz was a book before it was a movie? In fact, it was the first book in a series that contained fourteen books and a small collection of very short stories by Baum, not to mention all the books in the series written by other authors after Baum died.

The Judy Garland movie was lovely and deserves its status as a classic, but it doesn't follow the original source material as closely as it could. In any event, from the little I've heard and seen, this mini-series looks like it will be so different in subject matter and tone from the 1939 movie that there's little point in seeing them as competition for each other.

I advise that you chillax and judge this mini-series on its own merits rather than bashing it for not being the Judy Garland movie. Or if it bothers you that much, just don't watch it and leave it to the people who don't mind another good remake.

And please cut the utterly unnecessary trolling about political parties. There was absolutely no reason to include that dig other than to stir up bad feeling and start arguments. Not cool of you.

Well said. I hate it when people throw in politics on all subjects across the web. It is strange and mostly done to get reactions. Just another form of trolling.

Exactly! And some of the sexist rants on this board make no sense. They are obviously trolls and it's very disappointing.
