Dorothy's magic gloves...can't she use them as weapons?

i've never read the books this show is based on but i'm just curious as to why the magic gloves that went from Witch of the East on to Dorothy's hands aren't being used (by Dorothy) maybe as protection or SOME kind of defense to help her on her journey. in the books are the gloves not really a big deal despite the fact it DOES seem to be a big deal?

2 episodes ago Dorothy was using the gloves and she teleported(?) from where she was standing. does anyone have any info/guesses on the magic gloves deal?

These ruby gloves are a substitute for the ruby slippers in the movie (in the book, the shoes were silver). I have wondered why we haven't seen her make an effort to use the gloves. They seem to appear at odd times.

Sara exactly! :)

The gloves probably take training to utilize. They are clearly powerful magic and they appear when Dorthy is under distress. If the previews are correct we should see dorthy using the gloves fairly soon.

Dorothy didn't even know how to use her slippers until she was taught. I don't see why she's magically(no pun intended) know how to use the gloves when they're extremely powerful.

Who knows who she'll learn from but I remember her getting the same reaction when people saw her slippers without her even using them. It made her a target not a witch with control of magic.

We haven't even seen her try though. If you had magic gloves that appeared and reappeared, wouldn't you try focusing on them and flex your fingers or point at something and try and make it move? :-)
