Anyone else guess the "twist" 5 minutes in? (Spoilers)

It felt like it was so obvious that there were a few times where I thought it was maybe *too* obvious, and maybe the real twist was something totally different.

When the girl mentioned on the train that they'd never even seen pictures of their grandparents, I was like, "Okay, so the old folks killed the real grandparents and are pretending to be them."

The first night, when the old guy said to stay out of the basement because there was mold down there, I was like, "Okay, obviously that's where the bodies of the real grandparents are dumped."

When the guy from the hospital stopped by and the kids said the grandparents weren't home, that solidified it for me - no one that knew what the real grandparents looked like had seen these fakes (also with the mom never seeing them on the video chats).

And then he mentioned the "scuttlebutt" at the hospital. I was like, "Okay, so these two escaped from the mental hospital where the real grandparents volunteered."

It just felt way too easy to piece together. Foreshadowing is supposed to be more subtle and nuanced.

I will say, however, that I prefer this predictable "twist" over the other possibilities they could've gone with, like aliens or demons.

The fake grandma was super creepy, though, so that evened things out for me.

Yeah, I also figured it out pretty quickly but the suspense of what might happen to the kids kept me interested throughout. I thought it was a really good movie and I enjoyed it.
