Michael didn't notice and examine and clean his own wound? Go to the hospital? That was stupid writing.

No, it's purposefully ridiculous. Rafael's father being killed instantly by a foot or two of cement is a prime example of this. It's called parody.

Jane the Virgin satirizes--but is also inspired by and pays homage to--telenovelas. That's kind of the point.

That's why imo, it's the opposite of stupid writing.

But the telenovela is apart of the premise of the show, just like how Modern Family is a mockumentary.
