I was so glad they showed that. It was a little more realistic to me than Michael just being okay going back to work. And the fact that he made it clear that he wanted to catch Susanna. Showed a lot of good character development for me.

And the fact that I started crying because Brett pulled it off so well.

Yeah, Brett did a great job with that scene. The look on his face when Jane said, "I need to give attention to the victim", the victim part hit him hard. His expression completely changed. I saw the surprised look on his face before he started to cry. What a great scene.
