Wouldn't a gynecologist notice Jane's a virgin?
When insemenating her? Would she think it's odd? Or would a doctor just assume Jane's gay and this is how she's getting a baby?... Dunno, just thought this was odd.

shareIt's a myth that doctors can tell - there's no definitive physical evidence. The hymen's presence or absence or its state is no indication, and neither is the state of the vagina. Even if evidence of penetration existed - how would you differentiate between it having been done by a penis, sex toy or fingers? We've been shown that Jane knows how to pleasure herself in the sexting scene and we have no clue how far she goes with that.
shareExactly. Plus, Jane would definitely find it odd that for the first time in a pap smear she had something actually penetrate her. Being a virgin, she would be very sensitive to that. It is also likely that a little blood would come out from the rupture of the hymen, not to get too gross. By the way, at least where I come from girls don't even get pap smears until after they've lost their virgnity. Checking out how everything is going 'in there' is the actual point of that exam, and one wouldn't be able to do so without losing their virginity.
AND Petra would also notice that she didn't have anything other then the usual pap smear apparatus being used on her, on her appointment.
But hey, this is a telenovela, and almost none of the twists are plausible.
I do see this happening because of Luisa, though. She's such a mess.
Geez - rupture of the freaking hyman? Do you think this was Jane's first gyno visit? They go right in there! What about damn tampons for God sake's? The hyman = virginity thing is 100% MYTH.
Here we go from "Psychology Today":
Ridiculous. Here's the rare truth about the widely misunderstood hymen.
For reasons that remain unclear, female babies are born with membranes surrounding their vaginal openings. Most hymens are doughnut shaped and open in the center. Newborns' hymens tend to be prominent and thick. But as the years pass, most hymenal tissue thins and the opening widens. During childhood most hymenal tissue wears away as a result of washing, walking, athletics, self-exploration, and masturbation, though little bits may remain around the vaginal opening, particularly in the area closest to the anus (hymenal tags).
The intact hymen almost never covers the entire vagina. If it did, virgin girls could not menstruate.
We have no reason to assume that this was Jane's first pap smear. Though it may be the case where you come from that virgins don't get pap smears, that is not typically true. You are supposed to get them if you are sexually active OR if you are 18+. I got my first pap when I was 18 and a virgin. I had no hymen, as many girls at that age do not, due to age and sports, etc. stretching it, and there was no blood and no issue.
And you do get penetrated during a Pap smear, by the speculum.
In one of the first episodes, Luisa said she "inseminated" Petra with saline. And I think Jane's appointment was first and when Luisa went into the room Petra was in, Petra said she was there to be inseminated but Jane didn't say what she was there for
shareYou can't tell if someone is a virgin. I was a virgin until I was 24 years old and got my first pap as a virign to get on birth control so I could have sex
Lonely Chicago pie
This thread is so ignorant and laughable. I clearly remember "popping my cherry" at 16 when I first used a tampon. Hurt like a bitch!!! I didn't understand until years later. I was 21 when I first had sex and my boyfriend thought I was lying about being a virgin because it didn't hurt. Sigh. Idiots.
