if last nite's (11/28) episode which was #7 was the mid-season finale
that would mean season#3 is half over. so does that mean there will be
only 14 episodes in season#3?

It has 20 episodes this season.

Due to the United States election Nielson Sweeps period was pushed back I believe and is happening now. This is why they are now having the Mid season finale for a lot of series, to draw in ratings!
