I realize this is a telenova essentially, but what the hell is with this storyline?

I mean, is Michael that much of a genius that he can study for his LSAT for a month and feel confident enough to take the exam? It takes most people 3 months of prep MINIMUM, unless you've been familiarizing yourself with the material casually and then do an intense one month of prep. But we saw that Michael procrastinated a lot so I don't get it.

Not to mention, how does one even sign up for the LSAT that soon? You're meant to sign up a couple months in advance, and I'm not even sure there'd be anything available merely 4 months before the exam.

Also, idk how it works in the U.S (I'm Canadian), but an interview with a law school and that's it? Like, where are his personal statements, the transferring of transcripts, the recommendation letters?

Idk what Putnam is (haven't heard of it, maybe it's fictional) but the only way this sh-t makes sense to me is if this Putnam school was one of those lower-tier "accepts anyone" law schools, but the show wants us to believe it's not.

I just really can't see Michael as a lawyer and don't know how this career path of all things ended up sticking. The next three years will be hell for him; do they even get that? Why doesn't he just become a Private Investigator???

It is unrealistic. Although there are some people who are naturally good at standardized tests, so he may do well if he's one of them.

I mean I've taken the LSAT myself and unless you're gifted, it's not just a standardized test that you can luck out on. It's not like the SATs, it really does take dedication and months of practice. And for Michael to say that he was bombing his practice tests indicates that he isn't a natural talent; timing is an issue for many LSAT takers.

Idk it is minor and it's a soap opera but lol I'm going through the process myself atm and it bothers me that TV depicted it as so straightforward.

He was in law enforcement. You have to take law classes when going to school for it. For me otherwise wasn't so unrealistic. They could have shown the stress of applying and getting all the necessary paperwork. It was a reasonable route for him to go. They just made it go too fast

I agree. And what about the fact that it's EXPENSIVE to go thru law school? Jane was like "yeah, go for it!" without seeming to think about the financial part of it, or how much studying he'll have to do while they have a toddler at home to care for.

Not to mention they weren't daunted about maybe being pregnant. Ha, yeah, have a second small child while he's going thru law school ... riiiiight, piece of cake.
