I Hate NBC, like HATE them.

Why not continue a series and or give it a complete finale. Not some cliffhanger. Buffy did it right at least... both times they had a "series finale". Continuum also appealed to its fans and came full circle.... mostly. But nope. Both series finales for heroes have been "cliffhangers" which look to lead into something more. Thats like ending Saw as soon as they enter the bathroom and the doll says "lets play a game" without any explanation on whats going on or whats to come.
I know its not NBC who wrote the show. I understand this, but they do have a say in it as its on their channel. If they see the show has more story to tell then let them.
From this point I'd even settle Netflix buying the rights and releasing the new episodes via their streaming service.

It's actually nothing like that. If that were the case, they would've ended the show at episode 12 with the looming threat of the solar flares coming towards Earth. They wrapped up that whole story, and then introduced a potential future plot thread if the creators and NBC ever decide to pick up the story again in some format.

But since you brought up Saw, it's actually more like the ending of Saw where the story was wrapped up and some characters had the potential to come back in sequels. If they never made another Saw movie, it wouldn't matter, but the ending hinted that the story COULD continue. The same thing happened here.

It's the same way the original series didn't end in a cliffhanger either. They stopped Samuel, finished the carnival arc, and then hinted at some possible future plotline where people with abilities are widely known to the world with Claire jumping off the ferris wheel in front of live news cameras.

Just because you would like to see where the show goes from the point they decided to end it, it doesn't mean it's a cliffhanger.

the original Heroes didn't finish. It was cancelled mid season and they set up the ending for something else. You cant say they didn't. it even introduced the next volume with a title during the finale.
Heroes Reborn has the potential of being bigger. that ending didn't say "we're finished" It said "there's something bigger coming" and a big FU because they don't plan on continuing.
Just because you dont consider it a cliffhanger doesn't mean it wasn't. 😱

season four/volume 5??

uh, YEAH. it DID finish.
NBC was VERY public that Kring only had nineteen hours for s4, with NO PROMISE of renewal. Kring admits this in interviews throughout the fourth season. and again after it wrapped, while we were all waiting to hear if NBC was going to greenlight a fifth season or not.

He squandered that, with the final handful of eps (post funeral) just padding out uselessly and aimlessly until the final hour, which he wrote and half of that was simply resetting the board to where he wanted things because he was not paying attention to what his writers were up to the rest of the season.

then the Big finale was Samuel and Peter pushing dirt at each other.

As much as that final flustercluck hour turned me off the previous four years, he DID give a somewhat closed ending, but also opened it up to the possibility of changing the series entirely for a POSSIBLE fifth season. Which NEVER HAPPENED.

They ended the show saying "End of Volume Five" and then "Volume Six: Brave New World" and then Claire falls to her not death and it says "To Be Continued" that's not "finishing" a story. that's called a cliffhanger.

Heroes Reborn didnt make that same mistake by adding a new volume at the end of this series but how it ended was not to complete a story. it was more like completing a chapter.

Maybe they'll try to try to continue it as a Web comic.

They probably got enough notice that the show was being cancelled. They could have reshot the final scenes.

Kring boasted that all the scripts were written BEFORE cameras rolled, and then 85% of the filming was done before the show started airing. This was "good" so they "couldn't second guess ourselves from fan interference influencing our direction again" or some BS.

We have been left with much worse endings than what they done with Reborn. The Sarah Conner Chronicles is an example. They were meant to be making a TV movie to finish off that show but it never came to pass. The 4400 was another and there have been others. I think this was one of the better shows to end their season.

The original show however was a damn shame, that i agree with being a really bad ending leaving it the way they did.

Have you seen the show ENTOURAGE and its movie? This is a similar case. If NBC had given it another season, it would never have had a closed ending.
