Phoebe was a really tragic character

I see a lot of topics and people complaining about how stupid and unlikable Phoebe's character was, but have these people really seen Dark Matters?
In Dark Matters, Phoebe started out as a naive, curious kind-hearted person who wanted to show her powers to the world, it seemed, at least to me, that she was going to be the main hero of the show and save the world, then everything went to hell once she got kidnapped.
In Heroes Reborn, Erica brainwashed Phoebe and corrupted every single bit of kindness and empathy that once existed inside Phoebe's heart, turning her into a cold-blooded psychopath who murders people and laughs in the edge of her insanity, and one of the main villains of the season.
One would think that she and her brother would get a happy ending in the finale, but instead Quentin had to kill her, his own sister he was looking for the entire series and what started Heroes Reborn.

I saw Dark Matters. It was good. You got to care for Phoebe, and were rooting for Quentin to find her once the show started. When Phoebe killed Quentin, I was a bit shocked. I was like, wow, so that's it? When they brought Quentin back to live after the butterfly, making him switch sides to Erica's team, I ceased to care at all about him and Phoebe. Then they finally get reunited, and Phoebe shows just how deluded she's become under Erica, what with her purpose and all that. They take Tommy at gunpoint! Then later they try to show us the good in Quentin as he displays some resistance to their plan. But Phoebe then displays this rebellious apathy, like some annoying teenager. You just want to reach across the screen and smack her. Am I supposed to believe she's not afraid of a bullet now? Displaying this attitude towards Luke like she's invincible.

The only good thing that came out of this was that Quentin gave her the bullets she deserved in the end. This was all a big screw you to the people who loved Dark Matters and were rooting for Quentin to find her sister. Yeah, he found her, but do you care now?

i too watched Dark Matters and i loved Phoebe for pretty much all of it (Dark Matters). i F'ing hated Phoebe on the actual tv show. i'm all for a brainwashed or morally lost character but they have to show shades of more than just a cliche mustache twirling one dimensional villain for me to want to see them in the show. if the Phoebe character had been written to where she's struggling morally with what she was partaking in with Erica then i'd be invested in her (Phoebe) and actually bummed/moved that she died. all we got was a bratty super-douche who thought she was omnipotent. i was praying they'd kill her off ASAP.

it IS a bummer because the actress herself is very likable and made Dark Matters Phoebe awesome. in DM that Phoebe is the type of person i'd like to be friends with. completely sweet and funny/goofy. i wish we got more of that Phoebe on the actual show.

Plus phobe is the only family he has left.

Erica didn't brainwash her, her roommate was already telling Qimli she was getting weird from developing her powers. go back and watch DM again, you can see it happening.

I'm curious. Why do you call him Qimli?

Which is the lamest way to create a character and pretend it would have some depth.

There could have been reasons and an interesting internal struggle, instead we get the same "good vs. evil" crap, which for anything other than b-league writing is totally outdated. In a world with Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, The Wire and Game Of Thrones, "she is brainwashed and therefore evil" simply does not do it anymore.

I didn't see Dark Matters but I felt disappointed in the tv show that she didn't get any redemption - she had basically been used by Erika and brainwashed into thinking she was helping the world, so I think it would have been good if she realised her error in choosing the wrong side and that she had helped Tommy capture Erika before he sent her to the future world.

Whilst probably more realistic that she wouldn't turn back to good, it felt like such a shame that she had such a sad life. And I really felt for Quentin because he went through such a lot to find her.
