Jessica Huang made me appreciate NOT being Asian

I made it maybe three episodes into this show, didn’t like it much. What I’ll never forget though is when Eddie forged a straight A report card and mom believed it, but stormed into the principal’s office, angry that the school must be too easy and demanding that he make it harder. This is part of why I sometimes find comedy to be scarier than horror.
I get the feeling that this kind of thing produces either relentlessly hard working kids, or lazy kids. Why try if your parents are going to be mad and demand more no matter what you do?
I saw on Pinterest a scene where Eddie’s brother explains to him that the dishwasher is meant to wash dishes rather than store them to dry and I couldn’t believe how people who demand academic excellence from their kids could possibly be that stupid. Asians seem to the epitome of stick up their ass.
