I would think emery was the older brother despite being the middle child.

I would say that this is what happens when you cast someone who's older than the role they're playing (eg: The Middle's 'Brick'), but he just turned 12 in March, so maybe is only playing a year older than the age he should (6th grade is usually 11y). Does make it a little awkward that he's soon overpowering his 'older' brother by 2 years.

Then again, Eddie's black friend looks like he should be playing High School basketball now.

He's the cutest of the three, his voice is changing, whilst the elder brother's hasn't.
