The show has so many anachronisms at this point, they should just ditch the supposed time frame altogether.
They never should have bothered with it in the first place, when they try to play the time period for laughs, they get it very wrong and it doesn't work, or their demographic doesn't get it.

but that's what makes the show fun to watch. they don't have to be so anal about true stuff. they have to relate the situations to current time so that the current generation can identify with them.
i love the mix between both "eras". it's what makes the show unique.
