People weren't talking about "safe spaces" in the mid-nineties.

That's exactly what I said to my husband! We didn't have "safe spaces" in the 90's!

We sure didn't ! We didn't have "safe spaces" because we didn't need so-called "safe spaces". People weren't worried about being "triggered" in the 90's. That's some 2000's stuff. LOL

The show has so many anachronisms at this point, they should just ditch the supposed time frame altogether.

They never should have bothered with it in the first place, when they try to play the time period for laughs, they get it very wrong and it doesn't work, or their demographic doesn't get it.

Very true! I'm not so annoyed by the musical and product anachronism because I'm not familiar with many of the references. However, the slang and verbal ones bother because they often are try to give 90's characters present day "swagger" or have them use current expressions and it really does stick out like a sore thumb.

but that's what makes the show fun to watch. they don't have to be so anal about true stuff. they have to relate the situations to current time so that the current generation can identify with them.

i love the mix between both "eras". it's what makes the show unique.

Don't get me wrong, I do like the show a lot. However, I feel they could totally make the situations more relatable to current times without relying on anachronisms. One or two are fine considering that anachronisms are almost unavoidable when doing period pieces. But this show has plenty and I think that's kind of sloppy.

If the goal of the show were to mix the 90's with current times, I wouldn't see a problem with that. However, I thought they were trying to portray the 90's as authentically as possible therefore, the anachronisms bug me a little because they stick out like sour thumbs. That said, I still enjoy watching this show.
