I just finished the final epi of Season One (still hoping that it can be saved!), and I have to say... Freddie has really grown on me. He's sweet, totally hot, and really cares about Eliza. I initially wanted to see Henry and Eliza together, but since Freddie's become more developed, my stance has changed. I really like Eliza with Freddie.
What do you think?
In My Fair Lady, which was based on Pygmalion, Eliza does not stay with Freddy. She goes back to Henry. So I think that is what would happen in Selfie.
shareI think this issue reflects the problem with the show. Everyone expects her to go with Henry since it's based on the play. Then once she does get with him, then what? Are they just going to work each episode and he still teaches her a lesson?
shareYeah, I'm familiar both with the play and the musical. (I didn't like Eliza with Henry OR Freddy in the play/musical. I wanted her to forge her own path.) So one would assume she'll end up with Henry in this version.
But I'm curious to hear what other people think about the characters and what other viewers would like to see, versus the expectations of the source material.
I think it would be interesting for this adaptation to take on a life of its own, and if that means straying from the source material, so be it.
That was the beauty of the show. Henry helps Eliza grow as a person, which results in stabilizing her romantic relationship while he's developing feelings for her himself. I'm really gonna miss this show!!
shareOh..and I'd still vote John Cho/Henry. Eliza brings him out of his shell and he keeps her from being completely ridiculous.
