This CAN'T be the end!

I am gutted that this Tuesday could mark the final episode of Selfie! There are so many stories left to be told, and each episode was getting better and better as we got deeper into the characters.

Karen Gillan and John Cho have put in great performances and I really want America to be able to have an Asian American leading man to love. I'm in a relationship with an Asian man, and people have flat out told me that they don't find Asian guys attractive. Just try to watch Selfie and not get the hots for John Cho! It really could make an impact on people and open their minds a bit.

There is a big group of us who are doing anything and everything to try to save this beautiful show! Over 40k fans have signed a petition to Hulu to pick up Selfie for a second season.
There have been scheduled tweet blasts every few days to different providers asking that they pick the show up.

The next tweet blast is to Hulu on the 30th at 8 pm. Tweet to them and ask them to save Selfie! You can see what other things we are doing to save Selfie here http://saveselfiemovement.wordpress.com/ .

Why shouldn't a show about how our lives are affected by social media by saved by social media? With the subject matter and demographic, Selfie really would lend itself to being an online show. It's always in Hulu's most popular episodes list, even as cancelled show. I really hope that there is a light at the end of the tunnel for Selfie. It really deserves to continue. Join us in trying to save it!

reply

Sadly, yes. Are you not based in the US? It was cancelled after about 6 or so episodes back in November. The remaining unaired episodes of the 13 made are airing every Tuesday on Hulu. Tomorrow they will air the final one that was made.
So the good news is you can still marathon it. It gets better with each episode. Especially the karaoke episode (ep 10).

reply

I am hoping that tomorrow after the last episode there will be a surprise announcement that Selfie has been renewed by Hulu :) Small chance, but at least it gives some hope.

reply

Yes,the karaoke episode was the best...

reply

Someone else said that they think an announcement of the show being picked up by Hulu or someone else is being delayed because while it is still airing new eps, it is still connected to ABC, and they aren't allowing them to make a statement. I am clinging to this theory, however delusional it may or may not be. :)

How can I go on without the adorable dorkiness of Henry? "Burn returned, m'dear." So cute!

reply

I'm good with that delusion too. Would love even just one more season or even just a 10 episode season to finish the story.

reply

I do wish that there was another season since the ending felt abrupt.

reply

Nope, im Portuguese. i rarely watch this kind of show but i had nothing else to see and loved the pilot. no point in keeping watching then :(

reply

Aww well it gets a lot better after the pilot. I'd recommend continuing. There are another 12 episodes to watch. Just pretend it's a mini series or really long movie. :)

reply

For some reason I thought that there were 13 episodes. (I could be wrong).

I have to agree, if this was the end, that was not a very fun way to end it!

reply

Yes there are 13 episodes. Do you have Hulu plus? The 13th and final episode will be airing tomorrow.

reply

I'm very anxious about the finale. Ep 12, while cute, was the kind of episode that's fine when you've got half a season left or you know it's coming back.

To the Portuguese fan, watch anyway. There's great moments and great jokes. I haven't seen the finale obviously but you really can treat it as a 13 part mini-series.

I must internet, immediately!

reply

I totally agree. I am wondering how they are going to attempt to bring closure to Henry and Eliza from where they are now and in only 22 minutes!

Tonight the Save Selfie crew are tweeting to the advertisers who sponsor the show when it airs on Hulu. We don't want to give up the dream of saving it!

Another fan tweeted to Emily Kapnek how lucky she felt to have watched a show that she will miss so much. So yes, I think it's totally worth it to keep watching. Even if it stings a little. :(

reply

I figured there was a 13th. The IMDb page references it, but doesn't have any info on it).

Hopefully there is some closure for the characters.

I'm really hoping Hulu or Netflix will pick it up. It really is a fantastic show!

I'm watching this show from the Netherlands and I really love this show.
It's so light and funny, and still so deep and just pulls you in!

I'm usually not this vocal on the internet but this show is to awesome not to stand up for!
I really hope they make another season, and I love that there are other people just as enthusiastic as I am and willing to save this show! Don't let this become a firefly...

So true! I'm going to miss all the characters!

'Cause while I'm looking at me...
I'm hoping to find you.

The last episode left me wanting more! This is the most socially relevant show on TV
What can we do to save the show or put it on Netflix at least?💓

Here is how to help. I took it from the "Save Selfie" Facebook page:

Hello Selfie Squad! I wanted to let everyone know that I just called Hulu again today as well as Netflix and for Hulu, my representative let me know that they are receiving on average, 300-500 calls a day from Selfie Fans, asking for a second season! He let me know that Hulu has NOTICED the high response to our show, but more will do a tremendous amount! Netflix has been receiving calls but not to the extent of Hulu!

Here is the information again to call the customer service phone number for Hulu, it is 877-485-8411(http://gethuman.com/contact/Hulu/) and for Netflix, 800-585-8131 (http://gethuman.com/phone-number/Netflix/customer-service--8399/). Let them know how much a second season of Selfie would mean to you!!

For Phone calls to Paul Lee at ABC, leave a brief message (30 seconds) on the ABC viewer feedback line. Dial 1-818-460-7477 and press 1, 2, 2, then 735. You can also call ABC's Burbank office to leave Mr. Lee a message: 1-818-560-1000 (Burbank, CA) Ask for Paul Lee's voicemail, and ask politely, what is going on with Selfie and if the rights are being sold! The message will be recorded and saved, not deleted!

We cannot give up! We cannot give in! Keep Fighting Selfie Squad!! Today just take ten minutes to save this great show, by sending an email and making a phone call to Hulu and Netflix! Let them know how much we want a second season and then Call ABC asking for a second season or for the rights to be sold!! This is our opportunity! We cannot waste it! Don't stop fighting!!! ?#?saveSelfie? ?#?SelfieSecondSeaso?n

reply

I've contacted Hulu and wrote ABC again. If people really want to try and save this it's important to keep writing in and letting them know how much you want this show to remain on the air.

reply

I love this show...it got great reviews, ratings, and a people's choice nomination...what the heck were the suits thinking?? I need John Cho in my life every week! Love "Amy Pond" too! :-(

reply

I agree. I don't watch or like a lot of sitcom type TV, I've only stuck to some Sci/Fi here and there ( Lost, Heroes, Fringe, The Walking Dead ) but Selfie has stuck to me like no other. Every episode makes me want to laugh out loud and smile. There are jokes that you need to be quick witted for, and I love the slowly evolving chemistry between the main characters. It's so sweet, I can't believe that one of the few tv shows I decide to get behind, was cancelled after the first season. Such B.S.
This is really cheesy but I haven't finished watching it yet, I'm trying to make it last until Valentines Day, so I have something fun to enjoy on that day.
