Single-handedly ruined by advertising

I saw the commercials for this show and I have to admit I thought it looked ridiculous and awful. And I was not interested in the slightest. Aside from being in love with Karen from Dr. Who. However I got bored tonight and watched it. Or should I say binged watched it. So wonderful and well put together. Relevant. Funny. Cute. Real.
And that's when I decided they really ruined it with advertising. I mean if it came off to me as ridiculous and brainless, which it's def. not, I now understand that I wasn't alone and it's so sad. Like they really should have done better advertising. Showed the true heart of the show. It would have made a huge difference.
Thought?

That's true. I thought it was going to be terrible from commercials also. But just decided to watch it when I was bored. The name sucks also.

Religion is regarded by the common people as true, by the wise as false, and by rulers as useful.

Actually I think the name itself killed the show.

Not many people want to watch a show called "Selfie"... the word itself makes me want to throw up.

But for as much as I detested the name I really did love this show.

The title selfie really isn't much worse than friends.. It really got ruined when they reshot the end of the pilot and cut out some other great scenes. John chos hash tag rant is something I will never forget.

The show also had a slow start imo and got better each week and people have no patience today so if its not good right out the gate a lot of people will check out.

I completely agree. I remember seeing an ad before a movie (can't remember which movie), and I thought it made it look very annoying. My girlfriend thought it looked cute, so we decided to watch it when the pilot was available on Youtube. We both really enjoyed it, and watched every week. I was sad to hear it was canceled, but I can definitely say the title and the advertising were the biggest problem with the show. It was actually a pretty decent story, and I really enjoyed how they developed the characters. Not the greatest show, but it was definitely worth more than one season.
