The "S" word?
I watch this, and most shows, on Hulu . Henry used the "S" word. I'm curious if it is because these last few unaired episodes appear only on Hulu or has network television started to allow the "s" word?

shareHow did he pronounce it? Depending on the pronunciation, he might've said *beep* which is said in the UK, which means it could be a reference to the lead actress, who is from Scotland.
EDIT: IMDB censored my post. Where it says "*beep*", it's supposed to say the "S" word with an "e" at the end. It's a 5-letter word, not 4-letter.
As others have said - it was the American pronunciation and also appeared, just as I heard it, in the subtitles.
shareI was thinking maybe they intended to bleep it out when it aired, but didn't bother once it was decided to only show it online.
"But why is the rum gone?"
I think it was probably filmed after the show was officially pulled off air, knowing that it would be permitted in any other medium. The ABC soaps that went online did the same thing, and started dropping s-bombs like crazy and even the occasional f-bomb. The good news is that if this is true, then Selfie is likely to get a proper ending because they knew the end was coming.

@philRB - good job getting it past imdb filters. lol
shareIt was also used several times in the song that played at what's-her-face's hotel party and she said it when she saw the bill for the hotel.. I rewound it several times and even Googled the song and song lyrics because I thought I had heard incorrectly... That's when I came here; I haven't gotten to the point where Henry says it yet..
It's interesting because that would mean they filmed these scenes AFTER learning they were not going to air..or went back and ADRed those scenes to make them more "edgy"...both of which seem like odd choices..

"That's pretty dangerous; building a road in the middle of the street."
Eliza also drops something at some point and says it under her breath as well
shareIt wasn't necessarily filmed after they found out about cancellation. I agree it's doubtful that would be scripted before they knew it was cancelled. But it doesn't have to be scripted to have been filmed. Actors film things that aren't scripted all the time. It could have been an improv that they decided to use in editing after the cancellation.
shareCensorship has gotten looser with words for the past several years. The so-called "S" word has been allowed for quite awhile now. South Park did an episode where they said it some 100+ times in one show to celebrate it's allowance. Some go as far to allowing anything short of an F-Bomb.
shareIsn't SouthPark a cable show? Whereas Selfie is ABC. (I could be wrong about Southpark cause i don't watch it. And yes, I know - everybody says I'm missing an excellent show.
shareIf Selfie was shown after 10:00 p.m. on network television, then the S-word and F-word would both be acceptable. During primetime, however, they would risk getting fined if the FCC received any complaints (and the network was unable to justify the usage of the word as being necessary for artistic or educational usage - the word in this case would NOT have passed the test). Oddly enough, I could have sworn that I heard the S-word used in a song played in an episode while the show was still on the air (I think it was during the "party" that Eliza was having while babysitting - I couldn't find the lyrics to the song online, however, so I can't confirm).
shareI really don't understand this censoring business. What's the point? I don't know about American six year olds but in here in Sweden, they already know all the good words. Is it because some people find it offensive? If that's the case, allow me to get you some cheese to go with that whine.
