Even some of the movie reviewers said that the Music in SS , especially the Riddle of the Model, had a Bass hook that would turn the heads of music producers everywhere.

John Carney, the director of Sing Street, plays bass, and he is credited as one of the musicians who performed on the soundtrack, so he is likely the one playing.

As a longtime musician and songwriter, I thought the songwriting for this movie was excellent. All of these songs would have fit right into the time period, and all of them are catchy and just really well constructed.
