The Ending (spoilers)

Now I haven’t read much detail of this film and I’m wondering if this ending was the original ending or was there another ending. This ending that we got felt different in tone from the film.

I want to know if there was a more gruesome ending but test screenings wanted a happy ending so they went with what we got.

One thing which irked me was why were all the watchers united in voting for “yes” to have Vee shot? Didn’t they all like her? Or was them voting “yes” simply to see if it was actually going to happen (as if they weren’t sure if it was real)?

Also how did Vee get a hold to the villain and convince him to do the prank? He seemed so destined to win, how was he that easily persuaded?
