Eh, pre-'64 Chevy II's look so much like the '64-'65's I'd put that down as allowable. Let's see if they show the Mercury 7 trading up to Sting-Ray's, which they are about due to do IIRC.
There was a beautiful 1960 Cadillac Series 62 convertible in the last episode, just like I used to own. What a gorgeous boat.
That's pretty tiny.
Maybe more pointed, though also below the limit of what I'd consider objectionable: the aircraft Cooper flew when he strafed MSC is clearly not what would've been available. Indeed, it looks a lot like an L39 Albatross, which was an Eastern Bloc trainer that's flown various places in the world nowadays, but certainly wouldn't have been by an American astronaut in 1963. Plus, when we first see it, it appears to be armed, which doesn't make a lot of sense.
Or the reporter who refers to him as "Commander" Cooper. That's a Navy rank, and Cooper was in the Air Force and was (I think) a Major. I suppose that could just be a confused reporter, though.
How about the Right Car???
Recent episode ended with an overview of a neighborhood street similar to where I live now. Several 1960 Chevrolets consisting of a convertible with continental kit, station wagon and so forth. Lot of Detroit Steel and even more restoration cash put into rebuilding the various vehicles displayed.
I commend the owners for their efforts. This includes the Nova car mentioned a post or two before this.
Wonder if they were as concerned for the safety of their vehicles as the owner of the T'Bird used in American Graffiti was? I would have been!!
My wife owned a '63 Chevy II Nova. The mirrors were two inches wider and the latches on the wing windows are totally different. ?
shareIs an O4 a Lt. Commander? The "joke" in the Air Force is that a Lt. Colonel is a "telephone Colonel". Answer the phone "Colonel Pyron". I'm pretty sure a Lt. Commander is still "Commander".
shareAt-sea, in a command setting, a Lt. Commander is addressed as "Mister [Last_Name]" by higher ranks but a full Commander is referred to by rank. Since that's what really matters in the Navy, it doesn't matter so much if the swabbies and JO's call you "Commander" or not.
