Silly movie but at least Statham fights were interesting

I had no idea this was a sequel. The title being Resurrection meant there was a part 1 which I need to see now. I thought it was just the Mechanic.

Anyways, I thought the movie was kinda mix. It seemed quite a bit like the Hitman video game missions and I thought if they'd stuck to Statham doing stealth assassinations it would have worked very well.

The main plot of killing uber criminal heads but making it look like accidents was kinda silly. Few other silly things -

- He kills the black guy in the prison but it clearly is NOT an accident and who knows if he really died or not? The guy apparently got his neck snapped only to still be alive when force fed his weird diet and then he's sitting on a chair. Who knows if he just passed out or really died.

- The swim kill was cool in planning and felt more Hitman'esque. However, it was stupid that he went all the way up there right before his swim risking falling and someone catching him with videos when he could've easily just done this at night with the setup and waited till next morning and then had some contraption that would've caused the pool glass to shatter. Many things about it were silly but it was still fun to watch

- The whole thing with Tommy Lee Jones was moronic. So his guy gets shot from way across a rooftop and the bad guys call the hospital? Sure, yeah, lets invite them into our top secret base and lets not worry that someone SHOT at him. Let's just carry on as usual till people actually start getting shot in the base and somehow Statham gets inside the panic room before him?

- The fight scene with his henchmen was cool and I lol'd at the grenade drop as he's closing the sub door. But there were many silly things about it - like the entire base now being deserted with all the subs and criminal stuff still there while the bad dude's sidekick goes on TV to announce he's dead but there's no cops/swat etc. to take control???

- And he gets to the baddies boat to rescue Alba, almost does by killing like 20 guards and with only 2-3 remaining he still leaves Alba behind right at the end? WHY would he do that?

- And again at the end there seemed like insane number of guards for a boat that size. I mean there were like 50+ guards there all buzzing about. WTH

Statham's acting was good but Alba was very wooden and stiff. She has a great body and a great ...erm... well. Still, she could've acted better. She was very bad in her acting. In her scenes where she laughs with Statham, I think those were actual outtakes and they just left them in there.

Overall, fun but silly movie. Hitman'esque a bit but not fully cooked.

My rating: 5.5/10

This is not only a sequel but a sequel to a remake. The original came out in 1972 and stars Charles Bronson. It is more of a thriller and Arthur Bishop is cold blooded and his protege is a sociopath. The Statham remake stays pretty close in terms of plot but throws out much of the tone. This sequel is generic Statham action movie no.12. It has almost no semblance is tone or theme to any incarnation of the Mechanic before it.

Agree with you. Statham is fantastic in it, other than that it just continues to go down hill to the point where it just becomes another low budget Statham movie, just with much worse camera work
