Worst Sound Editing Ever

I saw this from disk, so I don't know what it was like in the theater. On my surround sound system/home theater, I couldn't believe how the score and background sounds stepped ALL OVER the voices. When the male voices could be heard clearly through that overlay, they, particularly Statham's, were so under modulated as to be unintelligible monotones half the time.

The plot was silly, although some of the action set pieces were OK. But given the weak script/story, and the difficulty one had following even that due to the sound issues, I'd put this movie barely above a 5.

And what the heck was Tommy Lee Jones doing in this thing, anyway?

really... sound editing.

that was your deal-breaker?

reply

Agreed, it was poorly done. In a movie like this with so many foreign English accents it becomes even more important to get this right.

Completely agree. This is part of the recent trend of downmixing voices to the point where you end up having everyone mumble while the music in the background is making your house shake. I absolutely hate this. At least in videogames i have options to manually boost dialogue volume, no such luck in movies.
