Moana - Maui = 1-0.
So, in the movie, when Maui's tattoo proclaims that Moana "owns" Maui with the comeback about Te Ka, that makes zero sense, right?
Maui doesn't want to go. It's bad news he says.
Especially Te Ka.
A lava monster.
"Ever defeat a lava monster?"
And Moana replies
"No. Have you?" with a smirk and grin.
NO! He hasn't. That is his point. To return the heart of Te Fiti they have to fight a monster that not even Maui could defeat, and that's why he doesn't want to do it.
So why should he be "owned" by that. It's his own point. Annoys me.
