Do you think this film will get an IMAX release?

Or do you think 'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them' will keep all IMAX screens until 'Rogue One: A Star Wars Story' comes out on December 16? Why or why not?

If neither, which other film do you think might snatch IMAX release before December 16 and why?

reply

I don't recall many movies being able to hold the IMAX for a full month, and with a movie that will most likely be front loaded like FB, I don't see it holding it. I would assume Moana will steal the IMAX screens soon. Maybe this or next weekend.

reply

Well, films like 'Interstellar', 'Star Wars: Episode 7 - The Force Awakens', and 'Suicide Squad' did.

reply

Well, Interstellar was specifically made for IMAX and Star Wars...well, it's not fair to compare any movie to that.

reply

Well, that still leaves 'Suicide Squad' and Warner Brothers has a very close relationship with IMAX, so that has to be considered too.

Besides, it was lucky that three animated films had IMAX release this year - 'Zootopia', 'Finding Dory', and 'The Secret Life of Pets'. Trust me, that kind of thing hasn't happened for years and I'm still having doubt on this getting an IMAX release.

What was gonna take Suicide Squad's place? Ben-Hur? Mechanic Resurrection?

I think that Moana and Beasts will share some IMAX screens though.

reply

'Ben-Hur'. But for some reason, 'Suicide Squad' kept most of the IMAX screens while 'Ben-Hur' took only a few IMAX screens.

I think that Moana and Beasts will share some IMAX screens though.

It could happen, but I'm not sure if it will.

Just saying...

reply

I said Ben-Hur as a joke. Basically everyone in the industry and most who follow the industry saw that as a massive flop from a mile away, which it was.

reply

Well, 'Ben-Hur' WAS slated for an IMAX release, and DID get some IMAX screens like I've mentioned...

reply

Star Wars filmed the Millennium Falcon chase scene on Jakku with IMAX cameras. Any film that actually uses IMAX cameras in the shoot gets priority on IMAX screens.

reply

True, but that still leaves 'Suicide Squad', which somehow managed to occupy IMAX screens for almost a month...
