Who else expected Maui/Te Fiti romance?
At the end when the monster turned into a woman, and Maui started getting bashful and apologizing for stealing her heart, who else expected a romance to blossom between the two?
shareEh, I don't think it was that kind of bashful. Maui was born a human, turned into a DEMIgod. Tefiti was a straight up goddess. And an extremely powerful one at that. And one that Maui had stolen from.
shareI think they would've made a good match if the filmmakers had decided to go in that direction.
Maui is immortal and at least 3,000 years old (1,000 years stranded plus he started pulling up islands 2,000 years before that for other humans to voyage to).
And the whole "he stole her heart" conceit really lends itself to a twist like that.
