I was very impressed with how visually rich and lifelike the dancing was in this film. Was it motion-captured?

I was wondering the exact same thing. A definite improvement over past films. Not just with the dancing though, I even noticed fluid life-like movement in the grandmother's walk, for example.

I believe it's just regular computer animation. I was happy, but not shocked since the dance for He Mele No Lilo was very accurate. I think Moana makes more of an impression because of the gorgeous visuals.
