I noticed a lot of similarities as well, but it still didn't stop me from enjoying the movie. It was a fun watch, and that musical moment "Know who you are" when she returns the heart was chilling and touching.
But yes, Moana = Pocahontas, the grandmother = Grandmother Willow, and from TLM: the father = King Triton.

shareUm, yeah I guess I see a bit of Pocahontas here. I think when she is singing about what lies in wait for her beyond the reef, that is very similar to the song what's around the river bend too. Moana was a great film all together.
