This may be my favorite Disney CG movie.

Saw it three times with my 6 year old already. Just about perfect. Pacing, plot, songs, animation, all top notch. I loved that they didn't have any romance plot or prince or anything. I loved that she was already who she was from the beginning of the movie, she just further developed those characteristics. I loved the songs, you're welcome, shiny, and the ancestors one all stood out. I loved the moment when she finally sang "I am Moana" as she fully embraced who she was. The ending had a really cool almost Miyazaki feel to it (think Mononoke). It never dragged. This movie was amazing.

That's just great! Well said. I agree with your nod to spirited away.
Of course, you should probably not respond because you felt different than me about Mad Max and you don't talk to people who feel differently than you regarding movies.

I responded in the other thread and I apologize for my hyperbolic response. I was partly joking. I just found mad max to be literally one of the least boring movies I'd seen so the adjective seemed innapropriate to me, normally I'm more open to disagreement on movies. Anyway, you explained yourself, and I gave you credit for both your explanation and your tone. Sorry for mine.

As former Disney & Miyazaki fan, I loved it. Moana's journey reminds me the Odyssey of NausicaƤ of the Valley of the Wind (movie+manga), and the fear of her own humanity she had to faced fearless of her own life/death.
Musker/Clements had pass the Disney Princess hating phase breach to purpose pure feminine badassery in action. She's more empowered than Mulan and her summer holiday military camp, in my opinion.
And Cgi is close to perfect.

Highly recommended. Three times too.

I loved it as well. Seen it twice, and will probably go see it again soon. I've been playing the soundtrack practically nonstop since the movie.
