The Voyagers

Every person of Polynesian extraction with children should take them to see "Moana" if just the see the "Voyagers" sequence.

In those few minutes, Disney makes you feel what it was to be a people who saw the sea, not as a barrier, but as the highway the connected their settlements. A people who were not villagers on some small island somewhere, but were the confidant inhabitants of a country as large as a continent.

There are still people with the old Polynesian navigating skills. Let this movie inspire your children to hear the call of the sea, and like Moana, learn the skills of their heritage.

In their different ways, the "Voyagers" sequence was as moving as the opening sequence of "Up". Both made me cry.
