Yaaaay for France!!!!

The one European country where this film has excelled! Maybe this will bring you a Moana ride/attraction to Disneyland Paris like you got the Ratatouille ride?

reply

Maybe, and beach accessories this summer. Also Ratatouille was the only PIXAR with Nemo who really runned on the paths of Holiday Season Disney classics with 7.2 millions tickets sold. 9.6 M for Nemo, Lion King rules again in 2017 with 15.3 millions tickets sold with copies running nowadays to family audiences!

Yes...beach accessories.

I'm proud of the people of your country for supporting Moana.

Based on those stats you posted, Snow White actually rules ahead of Lion King, with almost 20 mil tickets sold.

Yes, but it was released in 1938, 1944, 1951, 1962, 1973, 1983 and 1992 even more if you count the flying copies for Elementary School audiences.

Honestly, I had no idea it had been rereleased so many times. Was that just in France, or was it rereleased everywhere in those years (I was born in 1991, so was only 1 for the most recent one you mentioned, so I honestly don't know)?

Also, more on topic, Moana really is doing amazingly well in France, with its minimum weekend thus far being slightly more than $3.9M. It's also shown great legs in key territories like Italy, Germany, and Spain, showing the OW to be a mere 20% in each territory, despite Italy and Germany only having released the movie less than 2 weeks prior to the numbers (numbers most recently updated on Jan 1st).

Re-release of Disney classics was a common thing in the "Cold War Europe"; euro kids could watch a new animation movie every... 4 years, an Asterix or a Disney, the rest stills ultra confidential, even "Watership Down" that anglophones praises.
