Will the Sing Along add to the box office numbers?

I think the Frozen sing along added to it's numbers, please let me know if that is true. If it is, Moana could go above 600 million or more, beating Tangled and Big Hero 6. Sure, it won't beat Zootopia or Frozen, but it will be Disney animation's 3rd highest grossing CG movie (outside of Pixar).

It's hard to say for Frozen. It made roughly $50M after the sing along was released, but I don't think it was measured how much of that was from standard and how much was from the sing along version. So, who knows?

reply

No, the re-releases for Frozen didn't add to box office numbers, and I doubt Moana's sing-along will do either...

reply

*Shrugs* All i can do is compare other films that got re-released like Dory and Jungle Book. Both made a few more million but it wasn't huge.

reply

Sing-along wasn't a re-release. It was still within the original theatrical run.

reply

A "re-release" as it's having an increase in theaters at the tail-end of its run. I've heard it called that many times under the same circumstances.

Frozen songs were popular with the target audience: kids.

Are Moana songs more popular with LMM/Hamilton fans, or the movie's actual target audience?

reply

I think a little bit of both. Obviously not as popular as Frozen, but both How Far I'll Go and You're Welcome enjoyed some time on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, as well as both reaching pretty high in the Hot 100 Downloads chart or whatever it's called. And the soundtrack itself peaked at number 2 on the US Billboard 200.

reply

The soundtrack of the movie was Number 2 this week on Billboard.
