Yep. I got the Genie vibes ever since the teaser trailer. Maui was designed and patterned after Dwayne Johnson and his personality, much like the Genie's personality was based on Robin Williams. They are both shape-shifting comic relief characters, in which both Aladdin and Moana find trapped on a mystical land of some sorts.
And the obvious reasons was that both films were directed by Ron Clements and John Musker.
