My likes and dislikes about Moana

I really liked:

1. The opening song. It was nice, dark and mysterious.
2. Moana's struggle with sailing. Watching her try over and over.
3. The cavern scene.
4. The musical score. (esp. We know the way & I am Moana)
5. Grandmothers death/stingray spirit scene.
6. Slowmo scene with Moana and Te ka.
7. Te Ka in general. Very frightening looking villain.

I did not like:

1. The song Moana's father sings.
2. Maui's opening action scene. Action eye candy for the boys. I would've preferred his backstory being told strictly through the tattoo art sequence, so that his reveal is more impactful later.
3. Maui meeting Moana. It was underwhelming and should've been more epic.. Did he really have to scream?
4. Moana's constant display of clumsiness.
5. Moana's baby scenes.

What about you guys?

Moana is only clumsy when it comes to sailing because she wasn't used to it and the baby scene is probably one of the best sequences in the film. Also, Tala became a manta ray, not stingray. Very different as manta rays can grow to be massive but have no stingers, barbs, or teeth. I do think that's important because it's a better representation of Tala.

Excuse me, manta ray. But regarding her clumsiness, I was also referring to when she kept flipping her hair in her face. They overused that gag in my opinion.

i could only remember one or two times that she flipped her hair in her face. although it was overused in tv ads

MOANAS BABY SCENES!?!

without them i think the movie would be unsatisfactory
