Did anyone think that the demon and the goddesses where the same person or did that seem like a surprise to people especially will having different names I think

I thought it was a monster that only showed itself when Te Fiti was threatened like a protector of sorts.

I thought it was her
but then nobody else seemed to make the connection in the story
so I was like uhhhhh why not just make them the same character?
then it was revealed as her
so then I was like. Okay. Back to making sense
